Following The Paved Path

Parshah Insights | July 09, 2026

Traversing the "forty-two travels" is an arduous life job, and we sometimes find ourselves in circumstances beyond our control, situations in which it is extremely difficult to hold on and focus on what is right. But, it's important to remember that our forebearers' troubles have not been in vain. Journeying through these various places, they paved the way for us so that the journeys of their future generations would be smoother and more manageable.

Another point to keep in mind is that in order to ease our journey, certain opportunities are granted to us from Heaven. The previous tzaddikim famously revealed that in every parshah, one can invoke the topics discussed in that parshah to accomplish great things. For example, in Parshas Pinchas, the korbanos of the Yamim Tovim are discussed. Through true love and connection to the Torah, one can merit to connect to the holiness of the Yamim Tovim. The same is true in regard to Parshas Massei, where the travels of our forefathers are recorded. On the Shabbos this parshah is read in shul, extra help from Heaven becomes accessible, so that we can also pass those travels in our personal lives.
