Torah Papers | June 27, 2025

Ba’al HaTurim - Rabbi Jacob ben Asher (1269-1343), Spain; Composer of Arba’ah Turim, tracing Halacha from the Torah through Talmud and early Poskim.

Aharon’s sons. Just as Aharon sat silently and accepted the Din with love, knowing it was all Hakadosh Baruch Hu’s mercy, so too the entire Avodah of Yom Kippur involves recognizing the mercy and kindness of the Boreh Yitbarach, who forgives all our sins through the viduy recited on this day. We must thank Hakadosh Baruch Hu for all the good He has done for us!

If we follow the path of the Avot HaKedoshim, who always accepted the righteousness of Din upon themselves, may Hakadosh Baruch Hu merit us to see Kohanim in their Avodah and Levi’im in their song and music, speedily in our days, Amen and Amen!

Many commentaries were written on the Tur, including R’ Yosef Karo’s “Beit Yosef” which formed the basis of the Shulchan Arukh.
