Pesach Sheni and Sefirah Observances

Chabad.org Luach | June 27, 2025

Parshas Acharei-Kedoshim, 12 Iyar, 5785
13 Iyar, 5781
15 Iyar, 5781
Pesach Sheni, 14 Iyar, 5785

The sefirah of Friday night is 27 days of the omer. The haftorah of Halo chivnei chushiyim is read (Amos 9:7-15). After Minchah, read the third chapter of Pirkei Avos. The sefirah of motzoei Shabbos is 28 days of the omer. Even though tomorrow is Pesach Sheini, Tachanun is recited during Minchah.

The sefirah of Sunday night is 29 days of the omer. The sefirah of Tuesday night is 31 days of the omer. Monday night is the last night to recite kiddush levanah.

Today is the third and final of the three bahab fasts. Do not say Tachanun. It is customary to eat matzah during the daytime meal. For more on Pesach Sheni, visit Chabad.org/470865. The Rebbe points out that perhaps Tachanun should not be said during Krias Shema Al Hamitah tonight, since the Korban Pesach would be eaten at night.

From Maariv tonight and onward, if you are unsure if you said morid hatal or mashiv haruach u’morid hageshem, it is assumed you said morid hatal and you do not go back, because 30 days have passed since we began saying morid hatal.

The sefirah of Monday night is 30 days of the omer.

The theme of Pesach Sheni is that it is never too late; it is always possible to put things right. Even if a person was tamei or far away, and even if it was lachem—deliberate, he can still correct it.
