Question:
Advice for truly living a Torah life.
Answer:
Five minutes a day Chovos haLevavos, no exceptions to the rule! Chovos haLevavos teaches a person what being Jewish is really all about, and without it, one can chalila live a whole life missing "the basics," for example how our entire service of Hashem is really just based on our hakares hatov for all the good that Hashem constantly does for us (see Shaar Avodas ha'Elokim), and how the whole point of the Torah is actually just to enhance our seichel and common-sense (like we mentioned last week).
But above all: having a private rebbi, someone who understands life. You have a rabbi that you ask halacha questions to, which is great. But having also rebbi, someone that understands you and knows how to turn you into a bigger, better, happier, healthier person with a healthier connection to Hashem, is just as important and even more. Without one, a person can live a life of one ongoing "Tisha bi'Av," and think that that is what serving Hashem is all about, G-d forbid! Remember, the Torah is a 100% positive sefer, with no exceptions to the rule!
