Born in Pressburg as a young bachur he studied under Rav Moshe the Chasam Sofer. He was orphaned from both parents at age fifteen, he traveled to Alte Oven, to Rav Tzvi Hirsch Charif Heller, author of Tiv Gittin, together with his good friend Rav Yaakov Shalom Sofer, later AvBeisDin Toplshon. There they studied for three years all day long and each night past one in the morning. Later he returned to Pressburg to study under Rav Moshe the Chasam Sofer until he was filled to the brim with Torah. He was counted among the Chasam Sofer's household. The wealthy gvir Rav Yechiel Michel Kitze also set aside a room for him with a bed, a chair and a lamp so that he would have a nice place to stay. When he reached the appropriate age he married Sarah Rachel the daughter of Rav Nosson Eliyahu Ehrman author of Kesav Ani and Otzar Chaim DayanMoreTzedek of Orsha. In Orsha he invested together with his father-in-law, they tried to live off the profits and allow him to attend to his studies without the yoke of the Rabbinate. After visiting his rebbe the Chasam Sofer for Shabbos, the Chasam Sofer promised to send him his semichah certificate, "why rebbe do I need it? I have invested my money wiseley and imyh I shall sit and study peacefully?" yet his rebbe's ruach hakodesh was the better and when he returned he found that all the money invested had been stolen. He had no choice but to take upon himself the yoke of the rabbinate as a source of income. He travelled to see if somehow he could recover the stolen funds, as he rested from his journey. He met a talmid chacham along the way and they conversed in learning. They stopped in Tisova for Shabbos and honored the guest with the Shabbos derashah. As he was very learned and found favor in their eyes, and their Rav had recently passed away, and so they asked him to be their Rav and appointed him the new AvBeisDin, he served there under TavReishYudChes and afterwards as Rav in Bardiyov (the name was later changed as Bartfeld).
He authored the sefer Divrei Avraham https://hebrewbooks.org/38474 He passed away 14 Tammuz and was laid to rest in Bardiyov (Bartfeld).
