When Billom lifted up his eyes and saw Yisroel dwelling in harmony and decorum, their tents arranged according to their Tribes — there came upon him then the spirit of prophecy from G-d.
Then he lifted up his parable and said:
“Thus speaks now Billom, the son of Beor,
“And thus speaks the man whose prophetic eye is now open.
“The one who hears the words of G-d — he speaks now; He who sees that vision which G-d, the All-Sufficing One, allows to be seen:
“O, he is fallen low. Yet he has uncovered eyes to see all this!
“How goodly are your tents, O Yaakov, Your dwellings, O Yisroel!
“Ever-flowing peacefully like winding brooks, Watched over by G-d like gardens at the riverside are watched, Like fragrant trees Planted by G-d Himself — for all time; Like mighty cedars beside the waters.
“As water flows constantly through the tributaries spreading outwards and onwards So shall their royal seed prosper like ever-increasing waters; Their king higher in stature than mighty Aggag And their kingdom greatly exalted!
“It is G-d Who brought them out from Egypt: He is their uplifting Power always; He shall devour the nations that are their enemies And shatter their strength; And with His arrows He shall break their power!
“Then they rest peacefully, crouching protectively lion-like, Lying down, confident, like the stately lion: Who would dare to disturb him? O, how those that bless you are indeed blessed But those that would curse you show themselves to be cursed!”
Then the anger of Bollok was kindled against Billom and he smote his hands together and Bollok said to Billom:
“I called you to curse my enemies but you have repeatedly blessed them these three times!
And now therefore hurry back to your place! I said that I would greatly honour you but see! G-d has withheld from you any more honour!”
But Billom said to Bollok:
“But to your messengers whom you sent to me did I not speak clearly, thus?
‘If Bollok were to give to me even his own palace full with silver — and even gold! — I am not able to transgress the word of G-d to do even good — let alone any evil! — of my own mind! That which G-d shall speak to me that is what I must speak!’
Now see! I am going back to my people — But come! Let me advise you about what this People will do to your people and what will come to pass in the latter days.”
And he lifted up his parable and he said:
“Thus speaks again Billom the son of Beor And thus speaks the man whose prophetic eye is still open.
“He who hears the speeches of G-d — he speaks now just one more time; He that knows the future like the Most High G-d knows it! He that sees the visions that G-d, the All-Sufficing One, allows to be seen! He is indeed fallen low But he has uncovered eyes yet!
“I see it clearly, though it be not now, I gaze far ahead, for it is not at all near:
“Behold! A star shall make its way out of the people of Yaakov And the sceptre royal shall rise up from Yisroel; He shall break out through the strong cornerstones of Mo’av And ultimately he will tear down all the false cults of all the children of Shays, son of Adam!
“But in the meantime mighty Edom will become a possession of others. Yes! Even Seyyir will be a possession of its enemies But Yisroel shall grow ever greater in strength.
“Out of Yaakov shall come this ruler of men And in the end he will destroy that which remains of the enemy stronghold!”
Then he saw Ammolayk and he lifted up his parable and he said:
“The mightiest of nations is Ammolayk Yet his end shall be utter destruction!”
And he saw the Kaynite and he lifted up his parable and he said:
“Even though you make your dwelling in the mountain stronghold And you set your nest in the rock — it will not help you!
“For when the time comes to lay you waste, O Kayyin, O, how far will Asshur carry you away captive!”
And he lifted up his parable and he said:
“Alas! Other than the Jewish Nation, Which of you mighty nations shall still remain When G-d shall appoint all this to come about?”
“And then great ships shall come from the direction of Kittim And they will afflict even Asshur the conqueror And they shall afflict also Ayver — But Kittim too will be utterly destroyed!”
Then Billom arose and he went and returned to his place and Bollok, too, went his way.
