A bochur from Chutz La’aretz was learning in a Yeshivah Gedolah in Eretz Yisroel, in a city where there was no minyan for Bnei Chutz La’aretz on Yom Tov Sheini. The bochur was unsure if perhaps he is obligated to go to a different city for Shavuos – to a place where there would be a minyan. Or if perhaps, he may stay in Yeshivah, and on the contrary he should stay in Yeshivah and learn with his current chavrusas? Even if we say there is no obligation for him to travel to a different city, is it better for him to do so, or is it perhaps better for him to stay put in his Yeshivah?
A similar question can be asked about an avreich from Chutz La’aretz who learnt in Eretz Yisroel before his chasunah, and has come to Eretz Yisroel for Shavuos. The avreich wants to travel to Yerusholayim on erev Shavuos to be with his rebbeim and friends from his old Yeshivah over Shavuos, however, in that particular area there is no minyan for Bnei Chutz La’aretz on Yom Tov Sheini. Is it lechatchilah [ideal] for this avreich to travel on erev Shavuos to a place where he knows there will be no minyan and krias haTorah on Yom Tov Sheini, or should he perhaps make sure to go to a place where he knows there will be a minyan?
