Mincha, Yitzchok, and the Future Redemption

הפצת המיינות חוצה | June 27, 2025

And as a result of performing the Avodah in all these matters, specifically in the afternoon which is time for the Mincha prayer which corresponds to Yitzchok who is associated with the future. As in the future the B’nei Yisroel will say to Yitzchok ‘You are our father’ for even though Yaakov is the choicest of the Ovos but with regards to the future it is specifically Yitzchok.

Mincha Corresponds with Yitzchok

The Talmud in Brochos (26b) states: It was taught in a Braisa in accordance with the opinion of Rabbi Yosei, son of Rabbi Chanina: Avrohom instituted the Shacharis, as it is stated when Avrohom came to look out over Sodom the day after he had prayed on its behalf: “And Avrohom rose early in the morning to the place where he had stood before Hashem” (Bereishis 19:27) ..... Clearly, Avrohom was accustomed to stand in prayer in the morning. Yitzchok instituted Mincha, as it is stated: “And Yitzchok went out to converse in the field toward evening” (Bereshis 24:63), and conversation means nothing other than prayer, as it is stated: “A prayer of the afflicted when he is faint and pours out his complaint before the Hashem” (Tehilim 102:1). Obviously, Yitzchok was the first to pray as evening approached, at the time of Mincha. Yaakov instituted Maariv, as it is stated: “And he encountered the place and he slept there for the sun had set” (Bereshis 28:11). The word encounter means nothing other than prayer, as it is stated when Hashem spoke to Yirmiyohu: “And you, do not pray on behalf of this nation and do not raise on their behalf song and prayer, and do not encounter Me for I do not hear you” (Yirmiyohu 7:16). Jacob prayed during the evening, after the sun had set.

You Are Our Father

The Talmud in Shabbos (89b) In the future that will surely come, Hakodosh Boruch Hu, will say to Avrohom: Your children have sinned against Me. Avrohom will say before Him: Ribbono Shel Olom, if so, let them be eradicated to sanctify Your name. Hashem said: I will say it to Yaakov. Since he experienced the pain of raising children, perhaps he will ask for mercy on their behalf. He said to Yaakov: Your children have sinned. Yaakov said before Him: Ribbono Shel Olom, if so, let them be eradicated to sanctify Your name. Hakodosh Boruch Hu said: There is no reason in elders and no wisdom in youth. Neither Avrohom nor yaakov knew how to respond properly. He said to Yitzchok: Your children have sinned against Me, Yitzchok said before Him: Master of the Universe, are they my children and not Your children? At Sinai, when they accorded precedence to “We will do” over “We will listen” before You, didn’t You call them, “My son, My firstborn son Yisroel” (Shemos 4:22)? Now that they have sinned, are they my children and not Your children?

And furthermore, how much did they actually sin? How long is a person’s life? Seventy years. Subtract the first twenty years of his life. One is not punished for sins committed then, as in heavenly matters, a person is only punished from age twenty. Fifty years remain for them. Subtract twenty-five years of nights, and twenty-five years remain for them. Subtract twelve and a half years during which one prays and eats and uses the bathroom, and twelve and a half years remain for them. If You can endure them all and forgive the sins committed during those years, excellent. And if not, half of the sins are upon me to bear and half upon You. And if You say that all of them, the sins of all twelve and a half years that remain, are upon me, I sacrificed my soul before You and You should forgive them due to my merit. The B’nei Yisroel began to say to Yitzchok: You are our father. Only Yitzchok defended the B’nei Yisroel as a father would and displayed compassion toward his children. Yitzchok said to them: Before you praise me, praise Hashem, Blessed be He. And Isaac points to Hakodosh Boruch Hu, before their eyes. Immediately they lifted their eyes to the heavens and say: “You, Hashem, are our Father, our Redeemer, everlasting is Your name.

Choicest of the Ovos

Avrohom represents Chessed, Yitzchok symbolises gevurah. Yaakov is a perfect balance between the two called Tiferes.

Objective is Pleasure

As the Possuk in Yeshayohu (58:13) says וְקָרָָ֨אתָ לַשַבָָּ֜ת ע ֹ֗נֶג call the Sabbath a delight.

Been Completed

On the Possuk: שֵֵׁ֣שֶת יָמִֵׁׁ֣ים תַַּֽעֲב ד֘ וְעָשִֵׁׁ֣יתָ כָל־מְלַאכְתֶך “Six days may you work and perform all your labour” – Rashi writes: And perform all your labor: When Shabbos arrives, it shall seem to you as if all your work is done, that you shall not think about work.

Raavin DeRaavin

Shabbos afternoon which is the time for Mincha is called ‘Raavin DeRaavin’ in the Zohar. This translates as ‘Wants of wants’. This refers to the following: every individual level and state of the Seder Hishtalshelus order of contraction of divine light is pre-meditated and has a ‘want’ or ‘desire’ that it should be which is a state of ‘kesser’. But at the onset of the whole Seder Hishtalshelus there is a general ‘want’ or ‘desire’ a general ‘Kesser’ otherwise called ‘Odom Kadmon’ which is the want of all wants and all states within it are equal as one.

We come very soon the coming of our righteous Moshiach and a great nation will come here into Eretz Yisroel the land of the ten nations and very speedily in our days Mamosh!
