Shuly Weiss was famous for her delicious cheese cakes. She worked for weeks on these orders, and did really well. All of her neighbors were enjoying them for years already. They were decorated very nicely, but even so, she recommended adding Reddi Wip right before Shavuos.
“Mommy, can we please add the Reddi Wip now?” asked Malka. “This cake that you bought from Mrs. Weiss is amazing, but it really needs its final touches.”
Malka loved decorating the cake to the end. She waited all year for this. “You’re a great helper Malka, but I’m afraid, it’s already way passed sundown, and I don’t know if we are allowed to use the whipped cream spray can on Yom Tov.”
“Do you want to ask Abba if it’s okay?” pleaded Malka.
Question:
Can Malka add the whipped cream on the cake now?
Answers:
Piskei Hilchos Shabbos (vol 3, 1:11-12) by HaRav E. E. Padawer teaches: “It is permissible to spray whipped cream out of an aerosol can as long as the tip is round and not in the form of any shape. However, if the tip has some sort of shape thereby causing the cream to be shaped as it comes out, it may not be used on Shabbos. It is prohibited to make any letters, shapes or the like with the whipped cream, rather it should be sprayed on in a haphazard manner.”
Note: Menucha’s answer are not to be taken as final decisions in halacha, but rather as a springboard for discussions, questions to a moreh hora’ah.
