Always Remembering the Name of Hashem

The Way of Emunah | June 27, 2025

The Shlah Hakadosh writes that we are meant to learn a mussar lesson from these pesukim.

Whenever a person does any action, he should say, “Im Yirtzeh Hashem” or “B’Ezras Hashem.” For example, before a person embarks on a trip, he should say, “Im Yirtzeh Hashem, I am traveling to such-and-such place.” When he arrives at his destination, he should say, “B’Ezras Hashem, I have made it here.” In this way, Hashem’s name will always be in a person’s mouth and he will always remember that whatever he does is guided by Hashem.

Thus, the pasuk is saying that they traveled with the name of Hashem and they camped with the name of Hashem, meaning that the name of Hashem was always on their lips.
