Hungarian Conference

Living Jewish | June 27, 2025

Eighty years after Hungarian Jewry was nearly wiped out during the Holocaust, Chabad Shluchim, emissaries, are bringing about a tremendous spiritual renaissance across Hungary. They recently held a momentous event: the country’s first Conference of Shluchim, followed by a unity Farbrengen.

The event brought together all 27 Shluchim, together with their families. Most of the Shluchim are in the capital, Budapest, while others serve in key cities across the country.

Leading the Farbrengen was Hungary’s Head Shliach and the Av Bet Din of Budapest’s Orthodox Rabbinate, Rabbi Baruch Oberlander. Veteran Shluchim shared emotional memories from 36 years of pioneering shlichut in Hungary, recounting remarkable milestones in rebuilding a once-decimated Jewish presence.

Throughout the Conference, the Shluchim engaged in focused discussions on challenges, expanding their outreach, and enhancing educational programming.

This groundbreaking event marked not just a reunion of Shluchim but a powerful demonstration of Jewish revival, unity, and the unstoppable momentum of the Rebbe’s vision unfolding in Hungary.
