Mitzvah 116 Eirichin Evaluation Of Houses

Torah Sweets | June 27, 2025

If one donated his house to Hekdash (to be owned by the Bais Hamikdash) and then wants to redeem it, a Kohen evaluates the house; then the original owner gives the Kohen the money and an extra 20%. The Kohen passes the money to Hekdash. The house can also be redeemed by a wife or an heir. In the evaluation process, the owner first suggests a price. Even if the house was stolen from the owner, he can still donate it to Hekdash. Movable objects ("metaltilin") cannot be donated to Hekdash (by the owner, nor by the thief) if they are stolen.
