Keeping Ahead of the Curve

Now I want to change the subject a little. It’s the same subject but I want to add something important. Besides for the obligation of thanking, there’s something else you have to do – you have to daven to Hakadosh Baruch Hu that it should continue.

That’s a very important principle and it’s included in the great system of tefillah; asking Hakadosh Baruch Hu to keep you b’shalom before the need actually arises. ָה לְצָרָהְּפִלִּים אָדָם תְּעוֹלָם יַקְד – A man should always put his prayers before his needs (Sanhedrin 44b). It means before you need something, before you come into distress, you should pray that it shouldn’t come.
