5701-1941, after attempting to flee Europe and the Nazi onslaught for two years, the Rebbe and Rebbetzin Chaya Mushka embarked on the final leg of their journey, departing from Portugal to the United States. The SS Serpa Pinto had to make multiple stops to avoid German U-boats and their dreaded torpedoes, but after eleven days at sea, it docked in New York.
