Study Torah, especially the parts of Torah that relate to Shavuos: the halachos of Yom Tov and explanations of the greatness of Matan Torah, in both nigleh and Chassidus.
Increase in Jewish unity (just as the Jews united when they arrived at Har Sinai to receive the Torah).
Help provide financial assistance toward Yom Tov necessities for those in need.
Make arrangements for all children to attend shul on the first day of Shavuos to hear the Aseres Hadibros, and encourage others to do the same.
Friday Night
The sefirah of Friday night is 41 days of the omer.
Tehillim
Early in the morning we gather in shul to recite the entire Tehillim with a minyan. Following Tehillim, a maamar (that can be understood by everyone) should be studied for around an hour, followed by davening.
For more on saying Tehillim on Shabbos Mevarchim, see below, “Hosafos.”
Krias Hatorah
During krias hatorah, the baal korei receives the fifth aliyah (which contains the tochachah) without being called up by name. He recites the berachos before and after the aliyah, as usual.
It is customary to stand when the last possuk of the Chumash is read.
After the baal korei finishes reading the seventh aliyah, the entire congregation recites aloud, “Chazak chazak venischazek!” This is then repeated by the baal korei. (The one receiving the aliyah says these words as well.)
The haftorah of Parshas Bechukosai is read.
