A Goodly Amount of Joy

Rebbe Responsa | December 08, 2025

Simchas Torah, concluding the festivals, should give one joy of Torah to last the whole year; Where to settle down after wedding

By the Grace of G-d
4th of Cheshvan, 5728
Brooklyn, N. Y.
Mr. Shraga Faivel Hakohen Pink
34, Moundfield Rd.
London N.16, England
Greeting and Blessing:

After not hearing from you for a long time, I received your letter of the 28th of Tishrei. As requested, I will remember you in prayer for the fulfillment of your heart's desires for good in all the matters about which you write, and may G-d grant that you should have good news to report.

Especially as we are coming now from the month of Tishrei, with all its festivals, culminating with Simchas Torah. I trust that you have taken with you a goodly measure of joy with the Torah, to inspire you every day throughout the year, to learn the Torah with devotion and diligence, in a manner that leads to actual deed, namely the fulfillment of the Mitzvoth.

Concluding on the note of the beginning of your letter, in which you write about the birth of a son, Pinchos, to your sister, may G-d grant that the parents should bring the child up to a life of Torah, Chuppah and Good Deeds.

I trust that you are careful in observing the three daily Shiurim of Chumash, Tehillim and Tanya.

With blessing,
By Nissan Mindel

For additional letters addressed to Mr. Shraga Feivel Pink, see letter dated 5 Teves, 5725, on the Rebbe Responsa App.

P.S. In reply to your question regarding the manner of your settling down after the wedding — it should, by all means, be in a way that would enable you to make full use of your qualifications and diploma, preferably in England. A final decision should be made as the time draws nearer, and when you will have more information regarding the various possibilities.

The Pinks had written to the Rebbe requesting advice on where to settle after their wedding, whether to move to New York in order for Mr. Pink to attend Kollel there for a year, or to remain in England.

At the time, Mr. Pink had not yet obtained a diploma. Shortly afterwards, he completed his studies and received a Diploma in Education, which enabled him to secure the position of headmaster of Manchester Jewish Grammar School.
