Pesukei Dezimra Before and After

The neviim command the Leviim to sing the words of Tehillim when they bring korbanos in the Bais Hamikdash. We are commanded to say Hallel (also from Sefer Tehillim) on special occasions. Pesukei Dezimrah is also mostly made up of excerpts from Tehillim.

Just as we recite a bracha before and after eating food, so, too, do we do the same with Pesukei Dezimrah. The introductory bracha is Baruch Sheamar, and the concluding bracha is Yishtabach.
