Shir laYom haShabbos

Novardok weekly | January 30, 2026

In this week's parsha, we learn about the Splitting of the Sea, krias yam suf. Rabosie, this is the time to get all the miracles and mofsim that you have been waiting for! Each and every person is getting their individual krias yam suf, in whatever area(s) they may want/need. Hashem just asks for one thing: Don't forget to say thank you! Don't forget to sing shira (song)! The Gemara (Sanhedrin 94a) tells us that Hashem was ready to make King Chizkiyahu moshiach (the Messiah), but did not, for he did not sing shira. The Gemara (Berachos 3b) tells us how Dovid haMelech would spend half the night learning and the other half singing shiros v'sishbachos laShem, song and praise to Hashem. This is something that we find uniquely by Dovid Melech Yisrael, and shows us what he is all about. Eitza tova kamashma lan (A good idea): Let's all try to be a little like Dovid haMelech, each one of us in our own way (with a rebbi)—we all are waiting so much for the geula sheleima (Final Redemption), so let's try to be ourselves a little like the one we are waiting for! Saying Tehilim is great, but even better is to actually try to be a bit like the one who created them!
