There Is No Order

Havineini | June 27, 2025

In all these things, we become accustomed to seeing things following a specific order, and this begins to cement in our mind the big lie: “Because he is smart, because he has money and yichus....” It’s all a lie. There is no natural order.... It’s all from Above.

When a person finds himself in a situation in which he needs Heavenly mercy, he must understand that the Ribbono shel Olam is waiting for him to draw down the Attribute of Mercy to the world!

People have become accustomed to speaking this way: “What’s the situation with this person? He needs big rachmei Shamayim.” The mind immediately interprets this to mean that the situation is lost. But no, we don’t know what the outcome will be... the outcome has nothing to do with us. But we do understand that we were now called by Hashem to arouse the hanhagah of rachamim.

The Kedushas Levi is teaching us that this is precisely what we need to do: “I don’t know what the outcome will be... it doesn’t matter to me. The Ribbono shel Olam has plans that aren’t known to me. My avodah isn’t to know what the outcome will be, but to think what my avodah is—and that is to reflect and meditate on these themes.”
