Caring For Every Jew, No Matter His Level:
This concept is also hinted to from the verse (Shemos 13:2): “Kadesh li kol bechor peter rachem kol Yisroel b’odom u’b’beheima li hu.” (Sanctify to Me every firstborn, every one that opens the womb among the children of Yisroel among man and among animals; it is Mine.)
Rav Chaim Mordechai of Nadvorna zy”a (Sefer Devar Chaim) writes that this can be understood to mean that if a man reaches a lofty of level of sanctity, wherein all of his actions are performed solely for the sake of Hashem, he is referred to as a “bechor”, which is a very distinguished title. However, he still should know that “peter kol”, the first, most important concept, is “rechem kol Yisroel”, to have rachmanus on every Jew, no matter who he is and to draw him close to Hashem. If one were to say “b’odom u’b’beheima”, some people are like animals, meaning that they live animalistic lifestyles and, therefore, do not deserve kindness, the response to that is “li hu” – they are Mine and I command you to be kind to them anyway.
