HaKtav VeHaKabalah - R’ Yaakov Tzvi Mecklenburg (1785-1865), Germany; Businessman until age 46, when he was offered the position of rabbi in Konigsberg, East Prussia, where Jews were being influenced by the Haskalah movement. His Torah commentary attempted to refute reformers by demonstrating close connections between Rabbinic law and Biblical text.
