Questions To Rabbi Mandel

Question:

Dear Rabbi Mandel, thank you for your amazing pasha sheet. My friend was recently diagnosed with second stage cancer, Rachana Litzlan. What can I do to help him? I once heard the Rav tell a story that someone was diagnosed, and the Rav suggested that if someone insults him, he should just keep quiet. After two weeks he was healed. Can this also help my friend?

Answer:

You should do everything you can to help your friend. Now in general when it comes to Yener Machla, a person should know that you should do anything you can to play down the Machla. A boy in my class, his mother had the Machla, and I davened hard that she shouldn’t need the treatment; and she only needed half the treatment and she was cured. I have so many, many stories of people who had the Machla and are in remission for a lifetime.

Speak positive and say good things about your friend. Sometimes when people are super-stressed-out, they got sick. Disease comes from dis-ease! So make sure that your friend isn’t stressed out. Now, there is no question in the world, that the Machla can disappear overnight!! When getting involved with doctors, realize that they are not in control of the situation, because they say things that discourage you. I know stories of people that when they got a diagnosis, they said it’s not there, and sure enough it wasn’t there. I know some people that parts of their body were bulging, and they said that it’s nothing, and the bulging disappeared. A friend of mine had a 16-year-old boy with a growth on his body. We all got together and laughed at it, and it all disappeared. I read a story with a non-Jew who did the same thing, and it went away. These are documented stories. The less serious you are about it, the less power it has.

Someone came to R' Wosner that had it in his lungs; he gave a Bracha and it disappeared. Hang around positive people the whole day. Make believe you don’t have it, don’t be stressed at all. The Novardokers told me that there was a study where there were ten people who had it, and each one was told how long they would live... and that’s what happened, Reb Moshe once instructed not to tell someone that they have it, and he lived long after that because he wasn’t aware of it, even though they only gave him two weeks. There was a non-Jew who was diagnosed, and he said to himself: “If I’m not going to live anyway, let me go and party”. He took his life’s savings, and took a cruise around the world. After partying away for a year, he was all cured, because he was in a totally different world. The less you focus on it, the less power it has. It can totally disappear. These are Goyish sources! A non-Jewish woman had an appointment for a procedure for the Machla, and during the procedure she had a heart attack. When she recovered, the doctor wanted to reschedule the procedure, and she said “There is no need, it’s all gone”. What are you talking about? I gave you a diagnosis! “After G-d gave me the heart issue, I knew He wouldn’t also give me another issue” ... and that’s exactly what happened.

By this Machla specifically, a person’s brain is so powerful. Their minds can cure the situation, and the mind can cause it to-begin-with, from too much aggravation. So get together with your friends and discuss (with lies) how positive the situation is. It can cure him, behind his back. People who cannot laugh invite all kind of problems. Hashem wants happy people.
