Why Squander All The Precious Treasures

Lebin mit Moshiach | June 27, 2025

Why are all the rare treasures being squandered in our generation? Because this is the final battle in the final golus!

In the last maamer of the [Previous] Rebbe, the nassi of our generation, on this physical world - before he ascends to a higher world - he gives instructions to all the people of this generation, the final generation of the golus.

It is in this generation, in which we are fighting the final battle of the golus, which will not have any more battles – this battle is being waged against those who "ridicule the footsteps of Moshiach" (Tehillim 89).

He states in that maamer that a king, in his determination to achieve victory, "will squander all the rare treasures that have been collected year after year, generation after generation, precious resources that have never been used for any other purpose and that have been hidden and sealed from all eyes" (Basi le’Gani, 5710).

The king, the nassi hador, squanders all the rare treasures, the very precious resources (his as well as the treasures of his ancestors) this refers to the treasures of nassi doreinu, and those of his father the Rebbe Rashab (whom he succeeded as Rebbe). These are such treasures which were hidden from "anyone seeing them, and were never used for anything."

These were hidden even to the Rebbe’im nessiim themselves, as the Rebbe Rashab stated.

It is particularly now, in our generation, the final generation during the victory of the battle of ikvesa d'Meshicha (footsteps of Moshiach), that he squanders all his treasures.

They are squandered to the simple soldiers, who go out to fight the battle. The analogy is – the treasures of Chasidus are revealed to the simple soldiers who go out to fight the battle against those who ridicule the footsteps of Moshiach.

Clearly, this means that, not as some erroneously think, that the treasures are revealed to the elite special few, and in order to receive these treasures you must first study nigleh and Chasidus etc. – it is not so! On the contrary, the treasures are given particularly and specifically to the simple soldier, who fulfills the will of the nassi hador without any questions.

As the well-known saying of the Previous Rebbe, nassi doreinu: There is no such thing as "Why?"

This means: that there isn’t a "question" and an "answer to the question" - and only after one has the answer does he agree to act – but, in the first place there was no question "Why?" – Whatever was commanded was done – no questions asked!

If he is commanded to go and disseminate the fountains of Chasidus, he goes, himself, he does not send an emissary.

If he is told to disseminate the fountains of Chasidus to the "outside" – he goes to the "outside" and fulfills the command. He merely needs to know what is required of him - but after that he need not know anything else, and he doesn’t ask "Why?" – he fulfills in actual deed what he was ordered to do!

And when he is commanded to deploy for the final battle of the golus - to conquer and refine all the lands of the nations (as a foretaste of the Geula) he fulfills the command – therefore the treasures are given to the ordinary soldier who goes out to the war.
