Giving Tzedakah to Unworthy People So That Hashem Gives to You:
The same sefer further relates that Rav Moshe Leib once gave a lot of tzedakah to a man who was known to be a terrible sinner. He gave the man all the money he had until he was left with nothing.
The residents of the city asked, “Rebbe, why did you give all of your money to this wicked man?”
He answered, “I also am not as good as I should be. How can I expect anything from Hashem? But if I give tzedakah to a bad person, Hashem will treat me the same way and He will be good to me even if I don’t deserve it.”
His Body Did Not Decay Due to His Act of Tzedakah:
The same sefer relates the following story in the name of Rav Nachman of Breslov zy”a:
There once was a Rov of a city who was collecting money to marry off an orphaned girl. He was in need of several hundred gold coins and he asked a local wealthy man to give him the entire amount. The rich man told him, “I have in my closet the garments worn by non-Jewish peasants. If you put this on and walk through the streets of the city, I will give you the full amount.”
It was a big embarrassment for the respected Rov to do this, but he agreed and did it. He then took the money from the wealthy man and asked if he could also keep the peasant clothing, and the man gave it to him.
Before his petirah, the Rov wrote in his will that he wanted to be buried in these garments. And so it was. His tachrichin were made from those clothing and he was buried in them. However, the pants were a bit too short on him and part of his leg was not covered.
Many years later, there arose a need to move the bodies from this cemetery. When his kever was opened, the Rov’s body was found to be completely intact, with no sign of decay. The only exception was the portion of his leg that was not covered by the garment.
