But, Eliezer wondered, how would he know which girl was the right one to be Yitzchak's wife?
So in a prayer to HaShem he said: "Please give me a sign when I have found the girl who will marry Yitzchak. When I ask a girl for a sip of water from her pitcher, if she is the right girl she will answer, 'Drink! And I will give water to your camels, too.' "
Just when he finished his prayer, Eliezer saw the girls of Charan coming toward the well, carrying pitchers on their shoulders. There were many girls there, but Eliezer noticed Rivkah right away. She had stopped to help other people on her way, and when she reached the well, she didn't have to lean down to lower her pitcher - instead, the water rose up!
Eliezer thought that Rivkah might be the very girl he was looking for. He ran to her and asked, "Please, may I have a sip of water from your pitcher?"
