Some parents have no idea how to raise their children......
Sometimes we witness bad parenting - adults in the park or parking lot handling their child in a way which we know is causing the youngster deep and enduring pain. It doesn’t warrant a call to a child protection agency, but it breaks our heart just seeing it. We can’t walk up to the adult to hand them a book or a psychologist’s business card; we’re helpless bystanders to emotional abuse. All we can do is offer a prayer for the safety and resilience of the youngster and the full healing of the parent. Then we move on through our day, grateful that we have been given more tools to use in our own families and determined to do our best to influence the world around us to acquire more compassion and skill in parenting. When we handle our own child well in public places, we are modeling and influencing - and raising a healthier generation.
