Placing Earth from Eretz Yisroel on a Kever

There is a minhag to place some earth from Eretz Yisroel on the kever of a niftar in Chutz l’Aretz to fulfill the posuk of “וכפר אדמתו עמו ” (above, 12). This way, he gets somewhat of a kapara (או''ז ח''ב סי' תי''ט, הג' מיימונית פ''ה מלכים הי''א ). Some people have this minhag (רמ''א יו''ד סי' שס''ג ס''א ).
