By the Grace of G-d
14th of Tammuz, 5732
Brooklyn, N.Y.
To the Friends of Lubavitch in California, Headed by Mr. Avrohom Lazaroff, President
Greeting and Blessing:
It gave me much genuine pleasure to receive the distinguished delegation who presented me with the Key to the new Chabad House in Berkeley...
Although I expressed my thanks and message through the distinguished delegates, I would like to reiterate here, in writing, the prayerful wish that the new Chabad House serve as the key to open the hearts of all who will visit it, and all who will come under its sphere of influence — open their hearts to the very core of their Jewishness. Of this innermost core it has been said that it is always “awake” and responsive, regardless of the outer layers encrusting it. And when the inner core of the heart is touched, it reveals the very essence of the Jew, permeating him with the Torah, Toras Chaim, and the Mitzvoth whereby Jews live, so that he becomes a source of inspiration to others, and together with King David, the Sweetener of the Songs of Israel, he will be able to say in all humility — תפומכ יתייה םיברל התאו יסחמ זע — “I have been an example to many, for you (O G-d) are my strong refuge.”
With prayerful wishes for Hatzlocho, and With blessing,
M. Schneerson
