Eliezer gave Rivkah lots of expensive and beautiful jewelry, and then he asked her, "Who is your father?"
Rivkah answered, "My father is Betuel. We have room at our house for you to stay overnight, and we have food for your camels, too."
Yes! Just what Eliezer was hoping to hear! Betuel was Avraham's nephew!
Eliezer went with Rivkah to her family's house, where Betuel and Rivkah's brother, Lavan, invited Eliezer to join them at the table for a meal. (Lavan saw the fancy-shmancy jewelry Rivkah was wearing, and figured that there might be more where that came from.)
Before he ate, Eliezer told them the whole long story of how he came to meet Rivkah and how HaShem had given a sign that she was the right girl to marry Avraham's son Yitzchak. Lavan and Betuel agreed that Rivkah could indeed go with Eliezer and marry Yitzchak.
But even though Betuel was acting nice on the outside, he wasn't so nice on the inside, and he had an evil plan. He had put poison in Eliezer's food, in order to kill him so he could take all of his money and gold. (Now, is that any way to treat a guest?)
Unfortunately for Betuel, but fortunately for our hero, Eliezer, Betuel's plan backfired. While Eliezer was telling his story, an angel swooped down, switched his and Betuel's food, and Betuel ended up poisoning himself instead!
