The well-known Mashpia, Rav Shmuel Gronem zt"l, would travel every year to spend the month of Tishrei in Lubavitch. At the end of the month, he would go back to his home in the city of Zembin. One year, before he left, Rav Shmuel Ber of Borisov zt'l told him that he had something to tell him, and he shouldn't leave before he gave him his message. The next day, Rav Shmuel Ber told him the same thing, so he stayed for an additional day. A day later, Rav Shmuel Ber told him, "I changed my mind. I don't want to tell you what I wanted to say." Rav Shmuel Gronem later declared, "I never in my life had such a crushing defeat!" Rav Menachem Mendel Futerfus zt "l added that he meant to say, "From this decision not to speak, he learned more than anything he heard anyone else ever say."
