On the Parsha

"Also on me Hashem became upset because of you, saying that also you will not come there." (1:37)

The Ohr haChaim haKadosh z"l asks an obvious question: What did Moshe Rabbeinu have to do with the cheit hamiraglim (sin of the spies)(which is what is being discussed here)? Wasn't Moshe's sin by the mei meriva ("waters of tribulation," and as Rashi explains, for hitting the rock instead of speaking to it)?

Says the Ohr haChaim haKadosh: If Moshe would have performed as Hashem had wanted by the mei meriva, Klal Yisrael would have reached a level so high that had they come into Eretz Yisrael, everyone would have remained totally righteous and there would never have been a Destruction of the Temple. But since this was not done, Moshe had to remain in the desert, so as the Temple should not be built by him, in order that it should be able to be destroyed and thereby saving Klal Yisrael from their own destruction G-d forbid, for the Temple would go instead of them.

One lesson we see from here: koach hayachid, the power of the individual, how just one person (in this case Moshe Rabbeinu), had the ability to rectify everything! My friends, it could be you!
