Riddles of the Week
(For answers see above)
- 1) In this week’s parsha we learn about Oig Melech HaBoshan: What was his real name? Why does the Torah refer to him as Oig? What was his bed made of when he was a child? Did he always sleep on such a type of bed?
- 2) What heter is there for us to go to shul on Tisha B’Av, surely on Tisha B’Av we are like aveilim [mourners] and the halachah is that an avel isn’t allowed to leave his house to go to shul?
- 3) The Gemara in Yoma (9a) teaches that the Beis HaMikdash was destroyed because of sin’as chinam [baseless hatred]. The implication is, that if we would have hated each other with good reasoning then the Beis HaMikdash would still be standing, is this true?
- 4) If one is sick and needs to eat on Tisha B’Av, is it better to eat five koseivos of bread throughout the day, or is better to perhaps eat three koseivos of meat throughout the day?
- 5) Why don’t we write Megillas Eichah on klaff [parchment] like we do with the Megillas Esther?
