וְזָכַרְתָּ אֶת ה' אֱלֹקֶיךָ כִּי הוּא הַנֹּתֵן לְךָ כֹּחַ לַעֲשׂוֹת הָיִל וגו' (ח, יח)
And you must remember Hashem your G-d, for it is He that gives you strength to make wealth… (8:18)
The Targum translates this pasuk as follows: “And you shall remember Hashem your G-d because He gives you the decisions to acquire possessions.” In other words, it is not sufficient to believe that one’s possessions come from Hashem. One also must believe that the decisions he made to purchase his possessions was placed in his head by Him.
This is as the Ramban writes (end of Parshas Bo) that one has no share in the Torah until he believes that everything that occurs in life is a miracle, and that “nature” does not exist. Rather, everything is from Hashem and if one does His will, he will prosper, and if one disobeys Him, he will fail.
