What is inside a camel's hump?
Camels have been used for transportation and travel in the desert for over 3,000 years, and they are specially designed by Hashem to survive in the hot and dry desert. Camels’ thick fur protects them from the sun, and their thick lips allow them to eat thorny plants in harsh environments where there is often nothing else to eat. They can even close their nostrils to keep out sand during a storm. Contrary to popular belief, camel humps do not have water inside them. Instead, they store fat, which can be converted into energy and water when the camel runs low on food. Camels have unique oval-shaped blood cells, which allows their blood to keep flowing easily when they are dehydrated. When camels do find water, they can drink up to 40 gallons in one go.
