First Prayerbook Composed

The Parsha Post | June 25, 2025

In response to an urgent request from a Jewish community in Spain, Rabbi Amram Gaon of Babylonia has composed a book outlining Jewish prayers as well as some laws and customs. Known as a Seder or Siddur (which means “order”), it is expected to become a bestseller.

“Imagine that,” said Cantor Rachamim Hazan. “Until now I had to commit to memory the entire service! Not an easy job at all. This Siddur is the best thing since sliced pita!”

“The next step would be to make one with Spanish translations,” urged Sachi Sefardi. Other suggestions, which are predicted to materialize in the distant future, include a Siddur Device with Zemanei Tefillah, a Tefillin mirror, a built-in compass pointing toward Jerusalem, and a don’t-talk-in-middle-of-Davening reminder.”
