Likkutei Sichos Chelek 24 Parshas Eikev Sicha 2

One Point | June 25, 2025

IN THE PARSHA:
משה רבינו continues to speak to בני ישראל as they prepare to enter ארץ ישראל.
He reminds them to always be careful to obey Hashem, since He is great and mighty and דח וֹח שׁא יִק ים וְל א פָנִ יִשָ אל , He will not show ________ or accept a bribe.

QUESTION:

We find that Hashem ______, in fact, show favor to בני ישראל.
We find this in ברכת כהנים which includes the words ה' פָנָיו אֵלֶיךָ איִשָ .
So why does משה רבינו tell בני ישראל that Hashem does not show favor?

ANSWER:

This פסוק is specifically discussing a person who חס ושלום completely abandons his obligations to Hashem.
As רש"י explains, this will happen “if you cast off His yoke.”
It is only in ______ case that Hashem does not show favor.
However, if a person generally fears Hashem, but still sinned, Hashem will overlook it.
As we see a few פסוקים earlier, where משה רבינו says that “all Hashem asks of you is to fear Him”. If you do this, He always has mercy and loves you.

Further discussion:

Why would someone even think that it is possible to “bribe” Hashem “with money”?
(See אות ה in the שיחה)
