Four Legs of the Throne

Living Moshiach | June 27, 2025

In this week’s Pirkei Avos (Ethics of the Fathers), it lists four things – “Who is wise...strong...rich...honored...”. These correspond to the four letters of G-d’s Name, and the Sefiros (Divine attributes): wise-Chochmah (wisdom), strong-Binah (understanding), rich-Tiferes (beauty) and the emotional attributes in general and honored-Malchus (kingship). Every Jew is a part of G-d and has all these four aspects, and the task is to reveal them, in a way beyond the letter of the law.

The four aspects make a complete throne, and every Jew is connected to G-d and is a “king”. On a throne, the king sits down, lowering his head, and raises his feet on a footstool. This represents drawing down from above and elevating from below, revealing G-dliness that is above the world with the world.
