Shu”t Shoel u-Meishiv - R' Yoseph Shaul Nathansohn (1808-1875) Galicia (Poland/Ukraine); In 1857, R' Nathanson was elected rabbi of Lemberg/Lviv, where he officiated for 18 years. A widely recognized rabbinical authority, was asked to rule on various contemporary issues; with rulings still widely cited - for instance, was one of first to permit use of machinery in baking Matzah, which created a widespread halachic controversy.
