On the Parsha:
כִּי שֵׁם ה' אֶקְרָא הָבוּ גֹדֶל לֵׁאלֹקֵׁינוּ (לב ג)
("Since I called out in the Name of Hashem, bring greatness to Our G-d" 32:3).
The Gemara (Berachos 45a) learns from here the concept of zimun, where a group combines together in praise of Hashem after a meal. The Zerah Shimshon discusses this concept, and brings down that this "joining together" and "preparation" (zimun) is actually a form of "creating a place of kedusha (sanctity)", through this act of "combining together" in praise of Hashem.
On a deeper level, this concept can be applied to our constant, everyday lives. B'livavi mishkan evne, "In my heart I will build a sanctuary [for Hashem]". Hashem, I want to "house" you inside of me! And on a practical note, through taking some time each day for avodas haregesh (see Madreigas ha'Adam: Yirah v'Ahava), for example through listening to holy yiddishe nigunim (songs), each to their own, we connect with ourselves and with Hashem in a real way, and little by little become ourselves a "resting place" for the Divine Presence.
Story:
Rebbi Nosson Vachtfoigel z"l (brought down in Leket Reshimos: Yomim Noraim) was busy "Neilah Time" with one thing: davening for Klal Yisrael! He said in his later years that he wishes he could do just one thing the entire day: daven (pray) for the nation! They once asked him what he would do if he "won the lottery", and he responded: "I would build a kollel (place of Torah study) in every city of the world!" And one time he remarked: "I hope they let me out of Gehinnom for not having done so!" It is known how much he (along with Rebbi Aharon Kotler, Rebbi Shneur, Rebbi Yehuda Jacobs, as well as the Chazon Ish and the Steipler z"l) would push yungerleit (young people) to move out of town! And Rebbi Yehuda Leib Nekritz z"l said: "One, two yungerliet is enough to take over a whole city!"
Rabosie, this is a time of year to think big!
Question:
How to "make it big".
Answer:
By being yourself (with a private rebbi). Hashem gave you already everything you need inside yourself, and all the Torah you ever need was already taught to you before you were even born. Your job is just to "tap in" to yourself, and little by little Hashem will help you truly maximize your full potential, and all of Klal Yisrael, as well as the entire world, will benefit. It takes just one person to make a difference in the world!
