Novardok

Bitachon Weekly | December 31, 2025

Now here comes a wonderful story which we just received from one of our readers (of the Hebrew edition, the original text of his letter appears below). Here is the story, in his own words:

I just met a person from France, while visiting in Eretz Yisroel, who told me the following episode. Around 35 years ago, this person had made a Bar Mitzva for his son, and “Rabeinu” (this is how the Jews in France called R' Gerson Liebman) had come to join. In the return trip, the driver who took 'Rabeinu' made a mistake and drove in the exact opposite direction. 'Rabeinu' noticed that a lot of time had passed and they still hadn't arrived. He asked the driver where they were, and the driver answered: near the Orly airport. 'Rabeinu' said, if Hashem brought us here, it is not for nothing! Stop the car near the airport, go inside, maybe you'll see a Jew who needs something.

The driver did as he was told, entered the airport late at night, and started walking around. Suddenly, a Jew approached him and said he had come from Eretz Yisroel to visit his son learning in the Novardok Yeshiva in France, but he didn't know any French and had been wandering the airport for hours, not knowing where to go. Of course, the driver now understood 'Rabeinu's' intention, that there was no mistake, but rather Hashem had sent them there to help this Jew. He took the guest from Eretz Yisroel and brought him to his destination, accompanied by 'Rabeinu'.

In this story we see the greatness of 'Rabeinu's' emunah, that there is no such thing as a mistake, but everything is guided from Above, and if Hashem brought us here, there is a purpose.
