Ahavas Hashem in Accordance With Ahavas Yisroel

The Way of Emunah | June 27, 2025

Sefer Divrei Yisroel explains the pasuk to mean that if one loves his friend, then Hashem says: “Komocha ani Hashem” – I, Hashem, will do like you did. I will love you.

Hashem will treat you the way that you treat your friend. The more you show him love, the more love Hashem will show you.

This is the meaning of the words that we recite in the brachos of Kriyas Shema: “Ahavas olam ahavatanu” (with a world of love, You loved us). This can be translated to mean that the same way we love each other in this world, that is how much Hashem will love us.
