Malchus, the Congregation, and the Sefiros

הפצת המיינות חוצה | June 27, 2025

This is so because the word עֲדַּת – “The congregation” symbolises the supernal attribute of Malchus and this is because the supernal attribute of Malchus incorporates all the ten Sefiros [together] which is why they are called an Eidah - a congregation. An Eidah is never less than ten.

The words in the Possuk that state: כָּל עֲדַּת - “The (entire ( congregation” refers to the attribute of Malchus as it refines all of the sparks within it. The word ‘Yisroel’ which symbolises the attributes of Chessed, Gevurah and Tiferes (as mentioned earlier) and B’nei Yisroel (as in the offspring of Yisroel, that which comes from Yisroel) refers to the attributes of Netzach, Hod and Yesod (as is learned out of the Possuk וְּכָּל בָּנַּיִךְ לִמּוּדֵּי ה׳ “And all your children shall be disciples of HaShem”) as they are branches of Chessed, Gevurah and Tiferes.

Malchus: The supernal Sefirah of Malchus is the last level of the Seder Hishtalshelus positioned below the other Sefiros so that it can receive from all those that are above it.

All the ten Sefiros together: All the Sefiros descend and shine through Malchus.

Never less than ten: Just as a To Daven a kaddish, a Kedusha and a Torah reading requires a Minyan of at least ten of the B’nei Yisroel. This is derived from the story of the spies who went to spy out the land of Eretz Yisroel before the B’nei Yisroel were to enter the land and the Torah says Bamidbor (16:21) הִבָּדְּלוּ מִתוֹךְ הָּעֵּדָּה הַּזֹאת וַּאַּכַּלֶה אֹתָּם כְּרָּגַּע "Dissociate yourselves from this congregation, and I will consume them in an instant” and although there were twelve spies Yehoshua and Koleiv were not a part of their plot and therefore were not counted so that leaves ten which shows us that an ‘Eidah’ a congregation is a minimum of ten.

The entire congregation: with the extra word כָּל.

Refines all the sparks within it: Through separating the good from the bad and elevating the good to holiness from all of the ten Middos included within it.
