5715-1955, the Rebbe sent letters to the administrators of the Chabad yeshivah in Brunoy, France, passionately advocating that they attract students from Morocco. Not only would those students benefit, he explained, but in turn they would help disseminate the wellsprings of chasidic teachings to hundreds of other Sephardic Jews.

5744-1984, the Rebbe publicly commented on discussions that were taking place in Torah journals about the terminology used by Maimonides in his comprehensive list of biblical mitzvot in Mishneh Torah. He pointed out that slight typographical errors have crept into the text and therefore, before making inferences from the exact language used, it is worthwhile to check manuscripts for variations. Since comparing old, handwritten texts requires expertise and access to rare material, the Rebbe suggested that a specialist be appointed to field such inquiries.
