Found the Owner Returning the Item to Its Owner

After a finder finds out who the owner is, he should tell him to come collect the item. The finder is not obligated to bring the item to the owner (השבת אבידה כהלכתה פ''ג אות ו').

If the owner is taking his time and holding onto the item is an annoyance to the finder, the finder may set a time for the owner by which, if he does not come to collect it, the finder will put it outside and make it hefker. When that time comes, the finder may make it hefker.
