Rav Yitzchok Betzlalel Rubin Reb Itzikel Broder (Elul 20, 5634 / 1874 - 150th Yahrzeit)
Son of Rav Elimelech Rubin of Sokolov. Rav Yitzchok Betzalel was a scion of the Ropshitzer Dynasty. He was son-in-law of Rav Sar Sholom of Belz. (Some say his name was only Yitzchok and not Betzalel.)
His grandfather, Rav Naphtali Tzvi of Ropshitz, promised at the time of his birth, that he would have an ‘eizener kop -- an iron head,’ a term that meant he would be a wise sage and talmid chachim. And, in fact, all his life, his phenomenal memory was his trademark. Chassidim said that Rav Yitzchok met Eliyahu Hanavi three times.
His wife, Eidel, was famed as a rebbetzin and her father, the Sar Sholom said of her: “All my Eidel lacks is a shtreimel!”
His sons were: Rav Elimelech of Yabrov, and Rav Naphtali Tzvi of Radichov. His daughter, Eleh, was the wife of Rav Chaim Meir Yechiel Shapira, Av Beis Din Radichov.
He passed away on the 20th of Elul, 1874 (תרל"ד) and was laid to rest in Brod.
