Rav Yosef Zev Halberstam

Rav Yosef Zev was the son of Rav Dovid Halberstam of Kshanov and a grandson of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz. He was the son-in-law of Rav Menachem Mendel Rubin of Glogov, a scion of the Ropshitzer dynasty.

He was greatly beloved by his grandfather Rav Chaim of Sanz, and he succeeded his father in Keshanov.

His sons were Rav Asher Meir of Buchnia, Rav Naftali Hirsch of Picolo-Sanz, and Rav Aharon of Bial-Bilitz.

His matzeiva (tombstone) bears the epitaph, “Unique in his generation, excelling in the attribute of hishtavus (equality).” He passed away on the 23rd of Elul.
