The Greatness of Tiny Chasdei Hashem

Bitachon Weekly | December 31, 2025

The bringing of Bikkurim came with a lot of fanfare, and a tremendous excitement was in the air. After keeping an eye on the first blossom of fruit until it turned ripe, the time to travel finally came. The horns of the oxen were adorned with gold, and they were accompanied with music. The procession made its way towards the Bais Hamikdash, as the onlookers watched with a special Simcha and excitement. Carrying in his hand a gold basket, he reached the Cohen, and revealed a single fig or pomegranate, to be waved in all directions (ת נוּפ ה). To make such a long trip and fanfare, etc. all that for one small fruit?! (Me'am Lo'ez).

In Slabodka they taught that small things are really big. Giving importance to the small things is really a big Avoda. Showing how every small detail is significant, is an Ikar form of serving Hashem, because the more you go into details, the more involved you are in the Avoda.

By making such a parade out of the first fruit, we bring to attention the detailed Chesed that Hashem does for us.

Hashem created the world for thankfulness, as Chazal say: ב ש ב ילְְב יכוּר ים ְְב ר אש יתְ ב ר א, ְְ וּאר ְק ְנ ְשְְְֶר אש ית the world was created for the Mitzva of Bikkurim. Becoming close to Hashem through thankfulness is the: ל ְכ ְת ְיתְְ הא ְיר ְב ְ purpose of the entire creation of the world!
