לע"נ ר' ישראל יעקב וזוגתו מרת קריינא ע"ה לאקשין ע"י בניהם ר' נחמן ור' אברהם ומשפחתם שיחיו
1973-5733, the Rebbe wrote to educators, requesting that they assemble groups of Jewish children before and after Rosh Hashanah to speak about G-d's unique closeness to each Jew during this time of year. He listed specific Torah passages and prayers that the children should recite, and requested that the following statement of the Baal Shem Tov be read out loud: “Every Jew descends to this material world for a particular mission of shedding the light of Torah..." The Rebbe continued, “Our wish for each of them is to fulfill this mission in the proper time and with success.” Several weeks later, after the surprise attack of the Yom Kippur War, the Rebbe explained that this initiative had been an “inadvertent prophesy" that helped forestall an enemy victory.¹ 18 Elul I.
