תפארת שלמה – 33:19
“וחנותי את אשר אחון ורחמתי את אשר ארחם” – “And I shall show favor when I shall show favor, and I shall have mercy when I shall have mercy.” The Gemara in Brochos 7a says on these words that Hakodosh Boruch Hu is saying that He will show favor even to those who are not worthy, and He will have mercy even upon those who are not worthy. This alludes to the Koach of Tefilah when one is Mispalel for another person, even if the one being Mispalel is not worthy of having his Tefilos answered – Hakodosh Boruch Hu answers them. “Hakodosh Boruch Hu shows favor” to the one who is being Mispalel, even if his Tefilos are not worthy of being accepted, and He gives mercy to the one that the Tefilos are being said for, even if that person is not worthy of it.
מהר"י שטייף -33:19
“וחנותי את אשר אחון ורחמתי את אשר ארחם” – “And I shall show favor when I shall show favor, and I shall have mercy when I shall have mercy.” Why is there a double Loshon of showing favor, and a double Loshon of having mercy? This alludes to us that Hakodosh Boruch Hu gives reward to those who perform Mitzvos, and the reward is double – thus the double Loshon: reward in Olam Hazeh and reward in Olam Habah. “וחנותי” and Hakodosh Boruch Hu will show favor in this world, and “את אשר אחון” – Hakodosh Boruch Hu will show favor in the future, in Olam Habah. This is speaking about being Mekayeim Mitzvos Aseh. “ורחמתי” – And Hakodosh Boruch Hu will have mercy on one in this world for transgressing a Lo Saseh, and “את אשר ארחם ” – and will have mercy in the future, in Olam Habah.
