Why, after Chet HaEigel does the Torah describe the close relationship that Moshe had with Hashem : רֶשֲׁאַכּ םיִנָפּ לֶא םיִנָפּ לֶא שׁיִא רֵבַּדְיוּהֵﬠֵר לג יא face to face, like a person speaks to his friend. The reason for Chet HaEigel was because the Yidden wanted a “medium” between them and Hashem. Now we see from Moshe how a person can come so close to Hashem as if he is His friend, like it says: ןָמֲחַרָה בָא שֶׁפֶנ דיִדְי beloved soul-mate, devoted Father.
The more a person tries to work on Temimus and talking to Hashem as if he’s really with a close friend, the less he will fall into evil ways, since Hashem will protect him. Notice how right after the worst sin in history [Chet HaEigel] Moshe entreats Hashem to come closer and closer to Him, even to see Him: ְכּ ְב ָי וֹכ ל as if possible!
We can suggest that the whole Gadlus of Moshe was his ability to say Gam Zu L'tovah and expect the greatest Yeshuos right after the worst disasters. Like the K'sav Sofer says that the reason for Yosef HaTzaddik’s success was that he always saw good in every bad situation; and by saying Gam Zu L'tovah it actually becomes good.
A person should learn from Moshe how not to be Nis'pael. Such a horrific tragedy as the Chet HaEigel just took place, and Klal Yisroel is in a Middas HaDin situation. Yet, Moshe is only looking to grow higher, even higher than he ever was [to actually want to “see” Hashem]!
